The easiest cheat to speed up plants’ growth

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, this powerful cheat will help save you lots of time and effort.

And now, let’s get straight to the point!

1) Enable testing cheats

Open the cheat console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C on your Mac or PC. Do it while you are in the game.
If you are a console fan, press and hold all four shoulder buttons at the same time. That is going to be L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 on PlayStation and LB + LT + RB + RT on Xbox.

Then type in the code testingcheats true and press enter. This will unlock the cheat we are going to use.

2) Grow your plant

Next, hold down Shift and Click on the plant you want to speed up growing.
If you are using a console, hold Circle and press X.

Select Set Gardening State… and then Growth Stage. You will end up in a new pop-up where you can choose the state of your plant.

Here is what it looks like:

Sims 4 set gardening state
Press Shift and Click on the plant to make this menu appear
Sims 4 growth stage cheat
Choose the Growth Stage option
Sims 4 growth stage
Choose your favorite stage!

These red crosses look quite dangerous, don’t they? 🤨

Anyway, you can follow the growth of your green friend stage by stage if you want to!

If your ultimate goal is to take cuttings or harvest the plant, choose either “Mature” or “Blossoming” from the menu options.

And there you have it – your plants have grown faster than ever! 🪄✨

3) Check for the season (optional)

But wait, do you have the Seasons expansion pack installed? Then, there is one more step to take if you want to harvest your plants.

To collect harvestables, your plant must be in season. Don’t expect your apple tree to start blossoming when it’s snowing!

Luckily, the same easy cheat will turn that all around!

Check if the plant is in season by looking at its description box. If you are unsure, or if it’s a wild plant, go ahead and do this step anyway. It takes only a second.

If this plant beauty isn’t in season yet, don’t worry. All you have to do is to press Shift and Click on the plant again. Select Set Gardening State…

That’s exactly what you have just done in the previous step.

Now, go to Plant Seasonality (Debug)… and choose In Season from the menu.

4) Harvest all (optional)

Now your plant should bloom perfectly, just in time for a harvest!

Don’t be surprised when you don’t see any produce right away. Most plants will spawn the next day at 5 AM (Nightly mushroom at 11 PM), even when you set the stage to Blooming.

Check back in the next morning to get your hard work paid off!

That might be frustrating to wait, but that’s the rules of the game!

5) Evolve your plant (optional)

I promised you a vibrant garden in a single day.

Thus, there is one last thing for you to do if you want your plants to be top quality.

The quality of every plant range from Normal (that’s what you get initially) to Perfect (that’s what the plant eventually evolves to).

Why would you need high-quality plants?

Such plants not only look more beautiful, but they also produce more harvest. That means more food, money, elixirs, parties, or anything else for your gardener Sim!

To evolve your plant using the same cheat, go to Set Gardening State… and choose Plant Evolution…

Click Ready to evolve! in the pop-up menu.

This will make your plant sparkly, and a new option to Evolve will appear among the regular actions. Click on it and watch your baby shine!

You must reach Gardening Skills level 2 to evolve a plant. Here is a quick cheat for the cheat console if you are just a beginner gardener:

stats.set_skill_level Major_Gardening 2
Replace 2 with any other level you’d like to reach. The max level is 10.

You can improve your plant one evolution step at a time. To reach a perfect quality, you will have to repeat the process four times on the same plant.

Grow and harvest wild plants in the Sims 4

Growing and harvesting wild plants in the Sims 4 is quite an adventure!

To start, you need to find a wild plant. You can do that by exploring your neighborhood or visiting a nearby park.

Once you’ve located the area, it’s time to get down to business.

To grow a wild plant without cheating, you’ll need to be at that same lot for at least several days.

It’s a bit of a process but totally worth it if you enjoy a good challenge!

And if you don’t have the time for all this waiting around, fear not! The same easy cheat will allow you to jump ahead instantly in your plant’s growth cycle. That’s pretty handy!

Here is a quick recap, but you can always scroll up to see the detailed description:

1) Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat console
2) testingcheats true to enable the cheats
3) Shift + Click on the plant
4) Set Gardening State… to change both Growth Stage and Plant Seasonality (Debug)

With a little knowledge and the right cheat, you can make your wild plant grow just the way you want it.

Once it is big enough, it’s time to harvest the plant.

sims 4 grow wild plants

Like your own plants, wild plants spawn at a specific time. Usually, it is 5 AM, so make sure you are an early bird on that day.

But you don’t need to wait there if you don’t want to. Take cuttings from the plant and graft them to one of your garden plants.

Grow your hybrid plant using the same cheat and get the yield on your own lot.

To take cuttings of a plant, you need level 5 Gardening skills. Here is a cheat for getting there, type this code into the search console:

stats.set_skill_level Major_Gardening 5
Replace 5 with any other level you’d like to reach. The max level is 10.

And there you have it: growing and harvesting wild plants in The Sims 4 aren’t as hard as people think.

Who knows what kinds of unique vegetables await discovery in those faraway towns?

How to grow plants out of season in the Sims 4

Plants grow outside when they are in season. For the rest of the year, the plants will go dormant.

To make them grow out of season, you must keep them sheltered or graft them to another season’s plant. We will get back to that in a moment.

In case you just want a quick and easy solution, the same cheat will work for you!

Here is my Sim’s garden with plants from different seasons spawning at the same time. That is amazing to have your favorite food and flowers no matter what the season is! 🧚🏽‍♀️

The only thing you have to do is to plant the harvest where you’d like the plant to grow.

When it is snowing, you won’t be able to plant anything in your garden because the soil is frozen solid. So make sure to plan ahead!

And by now, you already know what to do. I have copied a reminder for you below. Jump directly to point #4 if you have already enabled the cheats:

1) Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat console
2) testingcheats true to enable the cheats
3) Shift + Click on the plant
4) Set Gardening State… to change both Growth Stage and Plant Seasonality (Debug)

If you want to minimize cheats, here are the three best strategies to harvest crops all year round. Let’s start with the easiest and move toward the most advanced one 💪

1) Plan your garden with the seasons in mind

Many plants grow all year round.

To name a few, these are avocado, garlic, berries, lemon tree, sage, and wild mushroom. To get the full list, you can look up plant seasonalities at the Sims Wiki.

These are a good choice for the base of your garden, so it doesn’t look completely dead once in a while.

For the next step, add some of your favorite seasonal plants. Make sure to balance all four seasons evenly. This will give you produce variety and maximize the garden’s potential.

An extra tip here is to cluster seasonal plants. Place plants that belong to a specific season in its own area.

This will make your Sims more efficient in tending the garden and collecting harvestable.

2) Grow hybrid plants

Grafting plants in The Sims 4 is a great way to get creative with your garden!

Combining the best of two different plants – perhaps one that grows quickly and one that produces a huge harvest – can give you some amazing results.

You can also combine plants from different seasons so that you never run out of fresh produce, no matter how cold or long the winter is.

Here is an example of my Sim using hybrid potato plants to get apples and bell peppers in winter:

Sims 4 Hybrid Plants

3) Build greenhouses

Using a greenhouse in The Sims 4 is a way to grow out-of-season plants no matter what the weather is outside.

There is no ready-to-use greenhouse in the base game. Building your own greenhouse requires effort, just like building any other structure in The Sims 4.

On top of that, greenhouse plants need some extra care from your Sim. You must water them more often, as they won’t be able to access water from the rain.

The roof is the only vital element of a greenhouse. Walls are optional, and even the planter boxes are not required. You can grow anything you want in the bare soil under a roof.

A greenhouse is a beautiful addition to any home lot, creating a green oasis for your sims to enjoy.

With the right tools, you can create a peaceful spot that will be the envy of the neighborhood 😍

There’s nothing quite like enjoying homegrown tomatoes or fragrant roses after all your hard work!
